Berkshire Living Magazine Rosetta review, Jan/Feb 2007This is as much a composer and arranger's album as it is a trio album, all credit devolving on Brooklyn-based bassist Stephan Crump, who has fashioned these eleven lovely, playful instrumentals for a unique lineup featuring acoustic guitarist Liberty Ellman and electric guitarist Jamie Fox, joining Crump on acoustic bass. Crump's tunes are mood pieces and tone poems that dance and sing while nodding to jazz, folk, Latin, classical, and other ethnic influences, and the musicians seem to interact telepathically - they obviously know each other well and enjoy the give-and-take built into Crump's compositions. -Seth Rogovoy |
